Junji Kawakami feat. INGAJA

One Chance

Ichi-go ichi-e

Junji Kawakami & Ingaja_final poster.pngThis track is a collaboration between Lithuania and Japan. 'Ichi-go ichi-e' is a traditional phrase in Japan that means “one time, one meeting’; an encounter that only happens once in a lifetime, reminding to treasure every moment, for it will never recur. We called track ‘One Chance’ in English as it perfectly fits with the song and our collaboration.

Composition, Arrangement - Junji Kawakami
Vocal melodies, lyrics - Inga Mikulėnė
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Kristijonas Lučinskas @ Soundprovocation

11590_0268.jpgI took part in Loop 2017 in Berlin. It was the first time for me going abroad and I met Ingaja on the flight to Helsinki. She was going back to her country and I was on the way to Berlin. We sat next to each other and talked.

Once I returned back to Japan, we stayed in touch. I sent her a track and we decided to start collaboration. She liked the sound of my track and created great melody and lyrics in a short period of time. I think it turned out to be a track that represents nowadays music scene. I was very lucky to meet Ingaja and Kristijonas. I want to say thank you to them for making the track sound so great.

We ended up sitting in the same aisle and knowing that the best conversations happen with the strangers (most of the time) I naturally started talking to him. At the beginning, we mostly talked about Japan and its beauty, but once Junji mentioned that he is going to Ableton LOOP conference our conversation right away switched to music. We shared our music and life stories. Junji and myself kept in touch. After a couple of months, he sent me the track for collaboration. I worked on vocal melodies and lyrics. It all resulted in a very catchy music piece that we decided to name ‘One Chance’. This collaboration is a pure example of how music connects people and the world. Vocals were recorded at Soundprovocation studio that is run by Kristijonas Lučinskas. He also did his piece of magic by mixing and mastering the track.
